Privacy Policy

Astherlau operates astherlau.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you browse the site or place an order, why we hold it, who else sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to everyone who uses the site.

1. What we collect

We collect three kinds of information, and no more than we need to run the shop:

  • Contact details — your name, email address, telephone number, and the shipping and billing addresses you give us.
  • Order information — the products you bought, your order history, and any correspondence you have had with our support team.
  • Device and usage data — IP address, browser type, device identifiers, the pages you viewed, the site that referred you, and the time of each visit.

2. Payment information

Payments are processed by Shopify Payments, which handles your card data directly and to PCI-DSS standards. We do not store full card numbers or payment credentials on our servers, and our staff never see them. What we keep is the fact that an order was paid, which is what we need in order to ship it and to refund it.

3. Why we use it

  • To take, fulfil, ship, return and refund your orders.
  • To answer your questions and keep you informed about an order in progress.
  • To detect and prevent fraudulent or unauthorised transactions.
  • To understand how the site is used and make it work better.
  • To comply with tax, accounting and other legal obligations.
  • To send marketing email — only if you have asked for it, and only until you unsubscribe.

4. Who else sees it

We share personal information with third-party service providers only where it is needed to complete what you asked us to do:

  • Our e-commerce platform provider, which hosts the store and its order records.
  • Our payment processor, to take and refund payments.
  • Shipping carriers, so that a parcel can reach your address.
  • Analytics providers, to measure site performance.

We may also disclose information where the law, a regulator or a legal process requires it, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, property or safety. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information to any third party for marketing purposes, and we never have.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

The site uses a cookie and similar technologies to keep your basket, remember your preferences and measure traffic. You can refuse or delete a cookie through your browser settings; if you do, parts of the site — the basket in particular — may stop working as intended.

6. How long we keep it

We hold your information for as long as it takes to fulfil your orders, provide support, meet our legal and accounting obligations and settle any dispute. When none of those reasons applies any more, the data is securely deleted or anonymised.

7. Security

Traffic between your browser and our servers is protected with SSL/TLS encryption, and we apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards to the information we hold. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we protect your data as carefully as we can, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights and choices

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • delete your personal information, subject to records we are legally required to keep;
  • stop sending you marketing, at any time, through the unsubscribe link or by writing to us.

Send any of these requests to support@astherlau.com and we will deal with them within a reasonable period.

9. California residents (CCPA)

If you live in California you have further rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • Right to know — the categories and the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to delete — deletion of your personal information, subject to the legal exceptions.
  • Right to opt out — we do not sell personal information. If that ever changed, we would publish a clear opt-out first.
  • Right to non-discrimination — exercising any of these rights will never cost you a worse price or a worse service.

10. Children

This site is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with COPPA. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

We may revise this policy from time to time. Any new version is posted on this page with a new effective date, so it is worth a look now and again.
