Asther Lau

With my precious little girl. :)

Hello!

I am a Malaysian female photographer based in Kuala Lumpur/Selangor that loves any kind of photography listing from nature to skyscrapers,  ESPECIALLY portraitures for newborn babies, toddlers, pregnant families, couples & families as well as weddings & events.

I am also an avid scuba diver which enables me to capture amazing underwater images from all around the world.

This blog follows both my professional life (as well as) some of my personal life, featuring MOMENTS from the maternity & newborn sessions, weddings & beautiful people I managed to capture with my lens, the places I travel and the friends and family members that mean so much to me.

This blog will also serve as my photography website, featuring my work & information of available services from yours truly. :)

It also contains random information source for my current and potential clients as I’ll (from time to time) provide some useful links of wedding tips & what-nots for your ”surfing” pleasures. I hope this blog will also be a source of inspiration and education for other photographers.

This site is a little more informal and I just want to give everyone a sense of who I am, and what I am all about. Do feel absolutely free to leave comments or post questions. You can also contact me for other booking enquiries. Thank you for visiting and REMEMBER to stay updated with Asther Lau Photography’s Blog by subscribing to our RSS feed!

Bump to Pop!: Salvin + Helen = Maximus

Babies, Portraiture, Pre-Natal | 29 November 2010

Gosh… I was just checking thru my older posts & realized I’ve not posted a “Bump to Pop!” series in a long time. So I’m taking some of my precious time today to do just that so my dear readers can share some joyful moments of a new parents with their little boy.

Mommy H contacted me months ago to book in her pregnancy session with me in August. When I finally get to meet her & Daddy S, I was pleasantly surprised with their beautiful white home! Yup… their home was mostly painted white & delicately furnished. Hence, they had had such a bright & cheerful portrait session that day. Here are a few to share with you…

A month later, baby Maximus came into this world & I was welcome to their home again for his newborn portraits. He’s a beautiful, tiny 8-day old munchkin when I first met him. One of my “sleepiest” baby and I had a bliss photographing him. ;)

Thank you, Mommy H, for so patiently waiting for your photos to be done & delivered. Thank you for understanding & Thank you for being such a wonderful client & friend. Will see you again soon for your family’s session next year. Can’t wait to see how much Max has grown!

Mommy H’s necklaces & earrings were courtesy of Elevyn.Com and Little Max’s angel wing was by the fabulous Joey Wong of Couture Baby Headbands & Such. Thank you so much for the wonderful pieces. :D Head on over to their websites if you’re interested to purchase some goodies from them. ;)

December is just around the corner, and I’m in the midst of healing & trying to catch up on the looooong editing lines. Will try to post a few more sets before the year ends. ;)

Ooh Baby: Little Myra l Selangor l Malaysia

Babies, Family | 16 November 2010

Remember ALP’s birthday contest earlier this year? The winner, Daddy M has finally contacted me & confirmed a date for their free photo session with me. He wanted this session especially to capture his little girl’s precious moments before she turns to toddler-hood.

The sky was kinda cloudy when we first set out but we’re lucky that Mister Sun was in the mood of playing hide-and-seek with us, so we had fun “chasing” the sun around the park.

Daddy M came prepared with an impressive collection of props for the session. He even brought a trolley along to transport everything during our stroll in the park. Talk about efficiency! ;) I finally get to meet the pretty Mommy M, who’s been breastfeeding their little girl exclusively since day 1. She doesn’t talk much but she sure smiles a lot. :D

Without further ado… please meet Little Myra! She’s such a sweet little girl, ain’t she? She has this cute little love for her little tongue. Super cute, I tell ya!

Big Cute Smile! *heart melts*

If you have the time, do hop over to Daddy M’s blog cos I personally think it’s a really great daddy-blog I’ve ever stumbled upon. There you can read about their adventures from pregnancy to the birth of Little Myra, on how Myra’s growing & their life as a family.  He even wrote a special testimonial post for ALP recently. ;) Read more at Mollycoddle. ;)

I know I’ve been neglecting this blog a lot lately and I can’t help it at the moment. Life’s been filled with lots of shoots which inevitably resulted to mountains of editing work. Well… as what my uncle told me recently, this is a good problem to have and I do agree.  This means there is income coming into the household, so I shouldn’t complain. Although I do find it tough to manage my time especially when there’s only 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and a huge part of it is also given to my other role as a mother, a wife and a daughter. I’m trying my best… my very best… and I’ve to constantly remind myself on which is the main priority in life. My health, my family and then my passion.

And I constantly thank God for providing & giving me what I have now. I am also thankful to YOU who are my friends, my clients and my fans. Cos YOU do play a huge part in keeping me going, doing what I’m doing now. For the love of the people around me. For the love of life itself. So THANK YOU. And come back soon to visit and I’ll try my best to share with you more happy moments here. Till then, have a great day with your family & friends.

Toddler: Little Gwen l Kuching l Sarawak l Malaysia

Family, Portraiture, Toddler | 1 November 2010

Oh Wo-Wie! It’s been aaagggeesss since I blog about my little clients. Amidst my (very) busy & tight schedule, I decided it’s time for me to share with you a photo session which I take to heart dearly.

Mommy J was my childhood friend during my life in Sri Aman. I was her little sister’s best friend & we used to play together a lot at her parent’s place. We’re also church buddies and were actively involved in the youth ministry. We sang together in the church choir and our choir group won quite a few choir competitions during our time. ;)

AND… her mother is my baptism God-Mother! :D

We grew up & lost touch when our families moved to different places. But God brought us together again in the form of Facebook Networking. Hahaha… We found each other being married & very pregnant at the same time! In fact, both of us delivered our babies on the VERY SAME DATE! Yup… you read this right. My little girl is the same age as Little G, her daughter. :)

We tried to meet-up again several times when we get to return home to Kuching for short visits, but it never came through until July this year. We finally met one fine morning at one of Kuching’s beautiful park, The Malaysia-China Friendship Park. The morning sun was showing its beauty, as if God was showering us the happiness of old friendship re-kindled. Mommy J wanted me to help capture some of her little girl’s moments and I was thrilled! I finally get to meet Little G. It took her some time to warm up to me & my camera but all went well in the end. Such a shy but sweet little girl!

Here are some of the portraits I’ve managed to capture that day.

Thank you so much, dear Mommy J, for taking the effort of contacting me & arranging for this meet-up. Too bad we didn’t have enough time to do a proper catch-up. We must try to meet again soon and let me introduce my girl to yours. :)

I’ll be back to Kuching in the next few days (for a week) on some work assignments (and hopefully) a doctor’s appointment for my knee check-up. Hopefully then I’ll get to see Miss G & family again. :D Let’s keep in touch again soon.

It’s now November and 2010 is almost ending. I’m trying my best to complete editing the tens of series of photo sessions done from a few months back, hence the lack of posting lately. Juggling between motherhood + family duties with work is getting more & more challenging but I’m still trying my very best to keep up.

If you want, you can stay updated & view more recent pics on my Facebook Photography Page. Head on over there anytime. :) Till then, have a great day and thank you for visiting here. ;)
